📏 Sizing: Measuring your dog for a slip-on collar, is important to ensure a proper fit that is safe and comfortable for your pet. Here’s how you can measure your dog for a slip-on collar:
- Gather the necessary materials:
A flexible measuring tape or a piece of string.
A ruler or a tape measure.
💡 If you don’t have a soft tape measure, we recommended using a piece of string.
Cut the string after taking the measurement and then lay it down on a flat surface and measure it out with a metal measuring tape.
- Prepare your dog:
Have your dog stand or sit comfortably but alert, with their head held high.

- Measure the dog’s head:
Measure the largest part of your dog’s head, this is usually around the jaw and in front of the ears. Make sure the tape or string is snug but not tight. Do not pull so tight that the fur bows out, and do not fit your fingers or extra space between the tape measure and fur. This ensures the slip-on collar can go over their head.

- Measure the dog’s neck:
Take a second measurement around the neck, where you want your collar to sit relaxed. This is usually close to the base of the neck. Again, make sure the tape or string is snug but not tight, and also do not fit your fingers or extra space between the tape measure and fur. If your dog is extra fluffy you may wish to add on an additional 0.5 – 1.0 inches.
- Record the measurement:
Note down the two measurements in inches, making sure you know which is the head measurement and which is the neck.
- Selecting your measurement:
Please select the larger of the head or neck measurement, as you have measured, to ensure the collar will slip on over the head.
